“Gay Gotham” Exhibit Includes Drag Explosion Pix and a Panel Discussion

A new exhibit, “Gay Gotham,” currently on display at the Museum of the City of New York through February, “brings to life the queer creative networks that sprang up in the city across the 20th century.” And guess what—The show includes a photo from The Drag Explosion!

The photo is part of a timeline map of the East Village and indicates the address of The Pyramid Club (The photo was taken in the club's dressing room in 1992.)

That photo and two others that I took of RuPaul at the Pyramid all appear in a book published in conjunction with the exhibit. (By Donald Albrecht and Stephen Vider.)

I also recently took part in a stimulating panel discussion at the museum, including showing some of my photos, about the ongoing importance of queer nightlife in New York City.

Thanks so much to the museum for having me! The place has had a recent renovation and looks fabulous!

It was an uptown event so I wore a gown!
