Meet Tavia
The Drag Explosion was part of the recent New York Virtual Art Book Fair.
A Zoom discussion about my soon-to-be-available book included me, art director and publisher David Knowles (Domain) and Tavia N’yongo, who wrote the afterword.
David brought in Tavia to the project and he and I were meeting each other for the first time. He come with an impressive resumé—he teaches at Yale and writes about performance and art through the lenses of blackness and queerness in both popular and academic venues. He also experienced NYC’s nightlife in the 1990s and his essay provides fantastic insights about the era.
And get this, he’s a sweetheart!
